From September 11 to 14, the 3rd China-ASEAN Agricultural Cooperation Forum, jointly organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the 8th Roundtable Meeting of ASEAN Plus Three Food Security Cooperation Strategy are held in Nanning.

The event was one of the key forums of the 15th China-ASEAN Expo. The Agricultural Cooperation Forum invites about 150 representatives from international organizations such as the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Programme (WFP), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the ASEAN State Ministries, and the ASEAN Secretariat, as well as enterprises of ASEAN countries. And the Roundtable Meeting of Cooperation Strategy invites about 150 representatives that include department heads and experts and scholars from ASEAN countries and Japan and South Korea, and international respresentatives from the ASEAN Secretariat,  the Secretariat of the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR), Asian Development Bank, FAO and WFP.

Participants conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the theme of “sharing agricultural development experiences, discussing rural development strategies, and building a regional development community”. The expected results include: designating 2019 as “China-ASEAN Rural Exchange Year”, releasing the "Proposal of China Overseas Agricultural Development Alliance (COADA) to Cooperate to Help ASEAN Agricultural and Rural Development”, promoting establishment of friendly rural relations between Guangxi and ASEAN countries, and compiling the English version of the "Case Collection of Typical Counties in Rural Entrepreneurship and Innovation of China".

This year marks the 15th anniversary of China-ASEAN Strategic Partnership, the 15th anniversary of the China-ASEAN Expo, and is also the first year of China's implementation of the rural revitalization strategy. This event will actively promote to reach consensus between China and ASEAN countries on the future agricultural cooperation, publicize and promote the experiences and achievements of China's agricultural and rural reform and development, and provide constructive measures to further promote China-ASEAN agricultural cooperation and food security cooperation among ASEAN and China, Japan and South Korea.
