Liuzhou’s foreign trade skyrockets in H1

According to Liuzhou Customs, the total foreign trade value of Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in the first six months of 2019 reached 10.43 billion yuan ($1.51 billion), a year-on-year increase of 27.9 percent.

From January to June, exports were 3.59 billion yuan, up 28.4 percent, and imports were 6.84 billion yuan, up 27.6 percent. Automobiles, construction machinery, and steel products have become the main force driving the sharp growth of imports and exports.

In the first half of the year, construction machinery manufacturers' exports to overseas markets grew steadily. From January to June, Liuzhou exported a total of 1.02 billion yuan in construction machinery products, an increase of 3.3 percent. The main markets for export were countries along the Belt and Road, especially Mongolia, Algeria, and Cambodia.

Liuzhou automobiles sold well in Latin America. From January to June, 12,029 vehicles, including complete vehicles and complete sets of parts, were exported, an increase of 48.9 percent. The trade value was 690 million yuan, an increase of 87.6 percent. Latin America, Africa, and ASEAN remained the main export markets.

With the increase in demand for national rail transit and infrastructure construction in countries along the Belt and Road, Liuzhou's steel exports have increased substantially. Liuzhou exported a total of 94,000 tons of steel in the first half of 2019, an increase of 64.8 percent. The main exporting countries were Vietnam and the Philippines.

The main import product was iron ore. The total value of imported iron ore was 4.32 billion yuan, an increase of 46.4 percent.
