High-speed railway economic belt promotes tourism cooperation

The Joint Conference of the 5th Guangdong-Guangxi-Guizhou-Yunnan High-speed Railway Economic Belt Cooperation was held in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region from Oct 18 to 19.

About 700 people took part in the conference, including officials from the relevant state ministries and commissions, officials from the four provinces and regions of Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, and Yunnan, leaders of the 21 cities along the economic belt, as well as representatives of well-known enterprises and industry associations.

The conference aimed to build consensus for development strategies benefiting the 21 cities along the high-speed railway economic belt, promote tourism cooperation, enhance tourism development, as well as make new explorations for the development of tourism cooperation across the provinces and regions.

The Framework Agreement on Tourism Cooperation of the Guangdong-Guangxi- Guizhou-Yunnan High-speed Railway Economic Belt was signed, putting forward a set of new tourism policies to benefit residents of the 21 cities and prefectures along the high-speed railway economic belt, as well as strengthen tourism cooperation between the four provinces and regions.

The framework agreement proposes to integrate regional resources, build regional brands and quality tourist routes, build a marketing platform, carry out comprehensive supervision of the tourism market, as well as strengthen tourism talent training and think tank cooperation.

Qin Rupei, executive vice chairman of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, said that in 2018, Guilin received a total of nearly 110 million tourists, and earned nearly 140 billion yuan ($19.79 billion) in tourism consumption, a large part of which came from the three provinces of Guangdong, Guizhou, and Yunnan.

From January to September of this year, the number of high-speed trains from Guilin to the three provinces was 169, with an average daily traffic of 10,560 passengers. The Guangdong-Guangxi-Guizhou-Yunnan High-speed Railway Economic Belt has become an important platform for implementing coordinated regional development strategies.
