South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Wuhan University of Technology (WUT) in the region's capital city Nanning on Jan 3 to carry out development and research in various fields.

According to the agreement, the two sides will cooperate in building an innovation platform, conducting scientific and technological research, promoting technology transfer and achievement transformation, strengthening talent exchange and cooperation, and participating in Belt and Road construction.

Nanning city and WUT signed agreements to establish a high-end research and development platform, and jointly build a college student pioneer park and a science and technology industrial park. Liuzhou city is going to cooperate with WUT to set up an automotive research institute, which will build seven technology research and development centers and introduce high-level talent teams.

In addition, a number of enterprises in Guangxi have also signed cooperation agreements in corresponding fields with WUT. Liuzhou Iron and Steel Group and the university will carry out research on the efficient and comprehensive utilization of solid waste resources; Guangxi China Shipbuilding Beibu Gulf Marine and Offshore Engineering Design Co will work with the university to carry out research and development of green intelligent ships; and SAIC-GM-Wuling will cooperate with the university on research and development and testing of key automotive components.
