The first press conference of the third Youth Games of the People's Republic of China was held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on July 13, introducing the current preparations and the future work plan for the event.
Guangxi won the right to host the 3rd National Youth Games in 2023 at the closing ceremony of the second edition of the games in Taiyuan, Shanxi province in August 2019. This will be the first large-scale competitive national games hosted by Guangxi, which is of great significance to the region.
At present, Guangxi has completed the top-level design of the preparations for the 3rd National Youth Games, started the training and preparation work for the event, as well as initially formed the construction plan for the venue facilities and the preliminary plan for the establishment of the project. The region has also carried out investigations and evaluations of the venues, as well as developed a gold medal goal plan.
In addition, the solicitation and selection campaign for the emblem, anthem, mascot, and slogan of the 3rd National Youth Games were released at the press conference, with the specific content, requirements, evaluation standards, and reward methodology being introduced as well.
The campaign is open to any organization and individual from China and abroad, with no limits to the type and number of works submitted by each applicant. The content includes four categories covering the emblem, anthem, mascot, and slogan for the 3rd National Youth Games. From now until Sept 30, 2020, people who submit their works will have a chance to win a prize, with a total of 142,000 yuan ($20,284.06) set for awards. The applicants with the selected emblem, anthem, mascot, and slogan will be awarded 30,000 yuan, 40,000 yuan, 30,000 yuan and 5,000 yuan respectively, while applicants with shortlisted submissions in each category will receive between 500 yuan to 3,000 yuan respectively.
