China said on Wednesday that it will impose sanctions on relevant United States personnel and entities, urging Washington not to implement the so-called Hong Kong Autonomy Act.
The Foreign Ministry made the remarks in an online statement after U.S. President Trump on Tuesday announced that he had signed into law the Hong Kong Autonomy Act and also put his signature on an executive order that ends the United States’ preferential treatment of Hong Kong.
The U.S. attempts to obstruct the implementation of the National Security Law for Hong Kong will never succeed, the statement said.
