A Chinese military spokesperson on Monday told India to immediately withdraw its troops who illegally trespassed the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at the southern bank of the Pangong Tso Lake and near the Reqin Mountain.
The Indian troops undermined the consensus reached in previous multi-level engagements and negotiations, said Zhang Shuili, spokesperson for the Western Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army, in response to the recent China-India border situation.
Zhang called India's move "flagrant provocation," which stirred tension on the border.
The Indian action has severely violated China's territorial sovereignty and harmed the peace and stability at border areas, Zhang said, noting that China strongly opposes the Indian side's faithless act of repudiating past promises.
India should strictly control and restrain its frontline troops, take concrete actions to honor its promises and avoid further escalating tensions.
The Chinese military is taking necessary countermeasures, and will closely follow the latest development to resolutely safeguard China's territorial sovereignty, as well as peace and stability at border areas, said Zhang.
