Chen Wu, chairman of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, emphasized that Guangxi will continue to build a market-oriented, law-based, and internationalized business environment during a conference held on Sept 11.

The main venue of the conference was in Nanning, capital of Guangxi, while sub-venues were set up in cities and counties (county-level cities or districts) around the region.

Chen noted that Guangxi has achieved significant results in deepening its reform of government functions to optimize its business environment, yet there are still areas that are not in line with national-class standards like not having enough innovative measures and a lack of government affairs sharing.

Chen said that initiatives, such as streamlining the government, lowering threshold for access, and implementing the issues canceled or delegated by higher-level governments, should be carried out to serve major regional development strategies like the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone, as well as the Baise Development and Opening-up Pilot Zone.

Advanced technologies like big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and artificial intelligence will be applied in innovating supervision models to promote fair competition.

More convenience will be available for companies and people when handling affairs by measures like cutting down handling processes, reducing materials, as well as reducing the waiting time for examination and approval.

Efforts will be made in pushing forward the integration of both online and offline handling channels for government affairs.

In addition, stricter supervision will be carried out on funds directly from the central government to ensure that they are used to support primary-level governments and businesses, as well as that they contribute to people's livelihoods, ensuring that companies, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and people in difficulties, such as those who are unemployed or living on basic living assistance, will truly benefit from these funds.
