The 2020 Guilin summit on the innovation and development of logistics and supply chains was held on Oct 27 in Guilin, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, attracting more than 300 guests, including logistics experts, scholars, and representatives from relevant companies.

Guilin had been set as a national logistics hub city for business service with the approval of the State Council in 2018.

Pressing issues in the innovation of logistics and supply chains, as well as the construction of a national logistics hub city were discussed during the summit.

It aimed to help Guilin further integrate into the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in Western China and attract more outstanding logistics companies to settle down in Guilin, turning the city into a regional logistic base serving Guangxi and radiating across China-ASEAN Free Trade Areas, as well as nearby provinces like Guangdong, Hunan, and Guizhou.

Zhong Hong, vice mayor of Guilin, noted that Guilin has now clustered more than 5,000 market entities involved in industries like transportation, warehouse, and post services, as well as that nine professional logistics parks have been put into operation.

A new development pattern for logistics is now taking shape in Guilin featuring one national logistics hub, three regional hubs, five distinctive distribution centers, and nine county-level hubs.

Zhong added that Guilin will make full use of the conference to devote efforts in building the city into an international tourism logistics base, an international aviation logistics hub, as well as a regional business and trade logistics base to push forward the rapid development of emerging industries.

Cui Zhongfu, vice chairman of the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, said that the construction of a modern logistics system will offer many development opportunities for Guilin as a national logistics hub city for business service.

Series activities, such as contract signings for major projects and parallel seminars, were also held during the event.
