Fangchenggang, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has gained approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China on Nov 6 to build a civil airport in Gaolingchang, marking a key step forward in the construction of Fangchenggang's civil airport project.
Located in the northern part of Fangchenggang, Gaolingchang is 16.2 kilometers away the municipal government. It is also reasonably close to Dongxing and Qinzhou.
"Currently, it takes over 20 minutes to drive from downtown Fangchenggang to Gaolingchang. Expressways will be built in the future to shorten the travel time to about 10 minutes," said a staff member from Fangchenggang's development and reform commission.
Fangchenggang's airport will be built in accordance with 4C airport standards. Construction is expected to start by the end of 2021.
The runway of the airport will be 2,600 meters, while eight parking areas for airplanes will be built in the airport, as well as an 8,000 square meter terminal.
