Liuzhou hosts China-ASEAN forum on industrial design

The 3rd China-ASEAN Industrial Design and Innovation Forum (CAIDIF) took place in Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Nov 18, gathering attendees in both online and offline venues, including government officials, representatives of industrial companies, as well as designers from China and ASEAN countries.

As one of the hosts of CAIDIF, Liuzhou is an important industrial powerhouse in western China and a successful industrial city in Guangxi.

The forum explored the development of modern manufacturing and had theme of "Draw an Intelligent Industrial Blueprint, Revitalize the Modern Manufacturing Industry."

It was expected to push forward the construction of a mechanism between China and ASEAN on industrial design and innovative communication, as well as to establish a platform for academic exchanges and commercial cooperation.

Wu Wei, mayor of Liuzhou, said that the forum will inject new vitality into the high-quality industrial development in Liuzhou, as well as make joint contributions to China-ASEAN industrial design and innovation.

Sulaiman Arshad, director of the Design Council of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Malaysia, said that he hopes that China and Malaysia can deepen communication in academy and professional techniques to bring new development opportunities for both countries.

Virasac Somphong, consul general of Laos in Nanning, said that the development of industrial modernization is inseparable from innovation and that industrial design is one of the important areas where the added value of products can be improved.

Somphong expressed his hope that Laos and China can continue their cooperation in areas spanning modern industries, industrial research and design, as well as modern technology.

A project of the China-ASEAN (Liuzhou) Collaborative Innovation Center for Industrial Design was signed during the meeting to boost industrial design development in Liuzhou.
