A batch of care packages has been mailed to 34 Chinese schools in countries including Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Indonesia, in order to help teachers fight against COVID-19, officials from the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region said on Jan 16.

The packages for teachers each included 100 medical masks, Lianhua Qingwen capsules, a Chinese medicine proven effective for COVID-19, and traditional Guangxi delicacies such as Liuzhou snail noodles, while the packages for schools included presents for Spring Festival and Chinese-teaching assistant aids.

Since the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic overseas, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has sent three batches of medical supplies for pandemic prevention and control, including 300,000 masks, to overseas Chinese schools in countries such as Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Indonesia and the Philippines.

The office has also mobilized overseas Chinese associations to help each other, offering more support for overseas Chinese schools.

At present, a total of 70 teachers now remain overseas to support education. The office encouraged these teachers to give lessons online when schools were closed due to the pandemic.
