A consultation event for Guangxi and Japanese-invested enterprises in Guangxi was held both online and on-site in Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, on May 17.

Keiji Kamei, consul general of Japan in Guangzhou, noted that Guangxi has attracted great attention in Japan as it is a connection point for South China and Southeast Asia with many Japanese-invested enterprises. He added that Guangxi offers many cooperation opportunities with Japanese enterprises in sectors spanning agriculture, forestry, automobile, and nonferrous metals.

Wei Ran, chairman of the Guangxi Council for the Promotion of International Trade, said that Japan is a key traditional market of Guangxi's foreign trade and that Guangxi will make full use of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) regulations to provide platforms for competitive Japanese industries to explore third-party markets, including ASEAN.

Guangxi is accelerating the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, which is the shortest and cheapest logistics channel connecting China and ASEAN. Nippon Express's subsidiary managing international logistics has already set up an office in Nanning to carry out logistics business between Southeast Asia and China.

A staff member of the office added that it is expecting to team with Guangxi in launching more cooperation in areas spanning marine routes, port logistics, and multimodal transport.
