The Development and Reform Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region released a three-year action plan (2022-24) on increasing the quality and efficiency of global aviation cargo transport at Nanning Wuxu International Airport on June 6.

Eleven specific measures were covered in the document to turn the Nanning airport into a global aviation cargo transport hub and a high-quality aviation logistics system will be formulated.

The Nanning airport will be able to handle 60,000 metric tons of global packages in 2022 and the number will reach 100,000 tons in 2023, making it a major aviation cargo transport hub airport between China and ASEAN countries. As of 2024, the overall customs inspection efficiency will reach the level of Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport with a handling capacity of 150,000 tons.

A number of major projects will be completed to improve the airport's infrastructure, such as the Nanning Aviation Cold-chain Medical Logistics Center.

Construction of the first phase of the Nanning Smart Aviation Logistics Service Platform will be completed and paperless circulation will be available in the whole process among airports, inspection agencies, as well as airlines.

Enterprises are encouraged to run international cargo transport routes, with the airport striving to offer over 15 of these routes by 2024, covering all major airports in ASEAN countries.

Guangxi will also seek the establishment of a logistics network connecting overseas warehouses, while also supporting outstanding logistics enterprises and cross-border e-commerce platforms to settle in the region.
