A government work report released at the 14th Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional People's Congress on Jan 12 stated that despite external pressures, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region has maintained stable economic growth and social operation in 2022.

It is estimated that Guangxi has achieved a year-on-year growth of 3 percent in GDP, 4.5 percent in industrial added value above designated size, 3.6 percent in general public budget revenue, and 2 percent in consumer prices.

The main goals for Guangxi's socioeconomic development in 2023 have also been determined. Other goals include the decrease of the region's carbon emission volume until it is within the national target, and that the growth of per capita disposable income will keep pace with economic growth. The region will add 300,000 new job opportunities and control the urban unemployment rate to below 6 percent. The increase of the consumer price index will be maintained to be around 3 percent.

It is also noted that Guangxi will devote efforts to the transformation and upgrade of its manufacturing industry and will promote industrial vitalization. Construction of major projects will be moved forward and the region's opening-up level will be further increased.
