This year's "33 Consumption Festival" in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will hold additional consumption promotion events for ASEAN products.

This was announced by Su Jian, deputy director of the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, during a media briefing on May 23.

Events such as matchmaking fairs, exhibitions and livestreams for distinctive ASEAN products will be held, and distributing business operators of ASEAN products will carry out on-site promotions during matchmaking fairs. All of these will lead to orders with representatives of well-known Chinese purchasers.

A total of 25 standard exhibition booths will be set up during the matchmaking fairs for products such as durians from Thailand, bird's nests from Malaysia, rice from Cambodia, beer from Laos, dried mangoes from Vietnam, and handicrafts from Myanmar.

Two famous Chinese anchors will hold livestreams with two anchors that speak ASEAN languages to promote both ASEAN and Guangxi products online.

Wang Xinhong, of the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said that the events will establish an open matchmaking platform for production and sales. This will expand marketing channels for ASEAN products that are imported via Guangxi.

The "33 Consumption Festival" is not only a shopping festival for Guangxi residents, but also a brand event with countrywide influence that is known for boosting consumption.

This year's event opened on April 19 and according to statistics released by the Department of Commerce of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, this year's event has organized more than 500 activities, which will bring in an estimated 40 billion yuan ($6 billion) in retail and catering revenue.
