BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) -- The Museum of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is set to open soon in Beijing, the National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA) said Wednesday.

From June, the new museum will host an exhibition on the history of the CPC, one of the events held in museums across China to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party, according to an NCHA press release.

The memorial of the first National Congress of the CPC in Shanghai will also open a new exhibition hall to visitors shortly, said Gu Yucai, vice director of the NCHA, at a press conference in Beijing.

The NCHA has recommended 109 high-quality exhibitions across the country, Gu said.

Also to mark the CPC centenary, educational activities based on revolutionary cultural relics have been carried out and online Party history courses have been created to help youngsters learn about the Party history in a vivid way.

"We will also form a team to discover the stories behind the revolutionary cultural relics and share them with youngsters," said Zeng Rui, head of the juvenile division of the Communist Youth League Central Committee.

China now has more than 1,600 museums and memorials themed on its revolutionary history. From 2018 to 2020 these institutions launched more than 4,000 exhibitions, according to the NCHA.

Meanwhile, the country has registered more than 36,000 revolutionary heritage sites and possesses a collection of more than 1 million related artifacts.

In 2019, China saw 1.4 billion red tourism trips, or revolution-themed trips, generating a revenue of more than 400 billion yuan (about 62.2 billion U.S. dollars), according to Gu.

Many tourist sites related to the revolutionary history have become a popular choice among Chinese tourists, especially young people, boosting the fervor of red tourism, Gu added.
