Construction for the first offshore wind power industry base project in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region is now moving forward smoothly and is set to be operational in 2022, local media outlets reported on Sept 27.
The project, developed by China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) Guangxi Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering, has marked that the Qinzhou area of the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone has entered a new stage of the accelerated construction of new offshore energy bases.
Yi Ming, a staff member of CSSC Guangxi Shipbuilding and Offshore Engineering, said that the base was planned and constructed with the ability to cover the whole industry chain. The project plans to have an annual steel processing capability of over 140,000 metric tons.
With a total investment of about 8 billion yuan ($1.24 billion), the project will have an annual capacity for offshore wind power equipment manufacturing, installation and a maintenance capacity for a gross installed capacity of 1.5 million kilowatts after operations.
The project is estimated to generate an annual output value of around 45.5 billion yuan and a tax revenue of around 2.28 billion yuan, providing 3,450 job opportunities.
