The Guangxi Day for China Pavilion at the Expo 2020 Dubai commenced both online and on-site in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Nov 1.

Activities such as the seven-day Guangxi China (UAE) International Commodity Online Exhibition and cultural performances will be staged during the Expo 2020 Dubai, establishing an important platform for strengthening communication between China and the UAE in economy, trade and culture.

More than 100 Guangxi companies will showcase over 50 categories of products at the online exhibition such as building materials, machinery equipment, food and agriculture, light industrial consumer goods, household appliances and electronics. At least one industrial matchmaking event will be held every day during the exhibition.

Ali Al Dhaheri, ambassador of the UAE to China, said in a video speech that cultural communication has long been an important part of China-UAE cooperation. As Guangxi enjoys splendid natural scenery and rich ethnic culture, the performances and exhibitions brought by Guangxi will help promote cooperation in culture and tourism between the two countries.

Liu Hongwu, vice chairman of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, said that Guangxi has been taking an active part in the construction of major opening-up platforms such as the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, the China (Guangxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the Fangchenggang International Medical Opening-up Pilot Zone in recent years, boosting trade and investment cooperation with countries and regions alongside the Belt and Road.

Liu added that Guangxi is looking forward to joining hands with companies in the Middle East to promote the intelligent and high-end transformation and upgrading of traditional industries such as sugar, machinery and non-ferrous metals as well as push forward the development of emerging industries including high-end equipment manufacturing, the digital economy, electronic information and biomedicine.

A batch of projects was also signed the same day, including a $3 million purchase deal for ceramics between Guangxi Sanhuan Porcelain and an Emirati trade company.
