Trading of ETFs, or exchange-traded funds, on the Chinese mainland-Hong Kong Stock Connect will be launched July 4, regulators said in a joint statement Tuesday.
Regulators on the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the China Securities Regulatory Commission, and Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission have been preparing for the work since May 27, according to the statement.
Relevant business rules, operation and supervision plans have been determined and the technical system is ready.
The statement urged all related parties to guarantee preparations for the start-up, making sure that ETF trading on the Mainland-Hong Kong Stock Connect will be smoothly implemented.
Stock connect schemes enable investors in the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong to freely trade stocks listed on exchanges in both locations.
