China to host WorldSkills Competition 2026

China will host the WorldSkills Competition 2026 in Shanghai, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security announced Tuesday.

The members voted in favor of the bid at the General Assembly on Monday.

Scheduled to take place from Oct. 12 to 17, 2022, the 46th WorldSkills Competition was announced cancelled in June, with alternative competitive events to be held in 15 countries and regions in Asia, Europe and Africa from mid-September to late November.

Recognized as the Olympics in the sector of skills, the biennial WorldSkills Competition boasts 45 successful editions.

The Chinese delegation for 2022 events was recently established, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security announced on Tuesday. The Chinese delegation consisted of 146 people, including players, the leader of the Chinese technical guidance expert group, and interpreters.

From early October to late November, they will visit seven countries including Germany, Switzerland, France, Finland, Austria, South Korea and Japan to participate in 34 competitions.

This will be the sixth time China participates in the competition as a team since it joined WorldSkills in October 2010.
