Around 100 youth representatives from China and ASEAN countries embarked on an eight-day tour in Nanning and Guangdong's Guangzhou on May 15.

The 14th China-ASEAN Youth Campus opened that day in Nanning, capital city of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

The event was organized by the All-China Youth Federation, with the aim of establishing an exchange and cooperation platform to boost the mutual development of young people.

It's also expected to guide and support young people in China and ASEAN countries to take an active part in China-ASEAN cooperation and help build a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

Fu Zhenbang, vice chairman of the All-China Youth Federation, said during a video speech that China and ASEAN had achieved leapfrog development in cooperation since the establishment of the China-ASEAN Dialogue Relations. Trade volume between China and ASEAN countries in 2022 reached 6.52 trillion yuan ($927.64 billion), a year-on-year increase of 15 percent.

The Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN Ekkaphab Phanthavong noted that ASEAN countries in recent years had achieved remarkable outcomes in economic development.

But he said there still remained problems with unbalanced poverty alleviation in rural areas - therefore it was very necessary to integrate poverty alleviation and digital development.

Phanthavong expressed the hope that the event would bring young attendees more inspiration to boost China-ASEAN cooperation.
