Since 2019, Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, has made great efforts to integrate with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, particularly in the areas of infrastructure construction, investment promotion, poverty alleviation, environmental governance, and new technology.

Flights from Nanning to Hong Kong and Macao have been increased from four to seven every week. Cargo ships are able to depart Nanning directly to Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. The Nanning-Hong Kong high-speed rail was officially opened on July 10, 2019, taking just three hours and 59 minutes from Nanning East Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station. Meanwhile, on March 28 this year, the Nanning-Zhuhai Expressway and Nanning-Zhanjiang Expressway officially started construction.

Since the beginning of this year, Nanning has increasingly targeted its investment promotion efforts and attracted a number of key enterprises from the Greater Bay Area, including leading electronic information companies such as AAC Technologies, Goertek, and Longcheer Information.

As of Aug 15, Nanning has signed 53 projects with enterprises from the Greater Bay Area with a total investment of 61.1 billion yuan ($8.85 billion). Of these, 18 projects have been started with a total investment of 14.72 billion yuan. In addition, there are 108 projects under discussion, with an estimated total investment of 144.87 billion yuan.
