A cargo aircraft loaded with 45 tons of commodities and operated by a Kyrgyz flight company, on Thursday took off from Nanning Wuxu International Airport and left for Peruvian capital Lima 20,000 miles away, marking the first intercontinental air freight route opened in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Three schedules are planned for the pilot intercontinental freight route, which fall on Nov. 25, Nov. 29 and Dec. 4 (Beijing Time) respectively, with cargo mainly comprising China-made COVID-19 antigen detection reagents to help the pandemic fight across South America.

The new pilot route would help Nanning Wuxu airport in Nanning City, capital of Guangxi, become an international air cargo hub.

As of Nov. 24, 2021 the volume of international air cargo and mail at the airport had reached 18,300 tons this year, up 96.98 percent year-on-year, with the total annual volume expected to exceed 20,000 tons, achieving the goal of doubling year-on-year.
