China-Europe freight trains departing from Liuzhou should be covered by scheduled management, according to a suggestion by Zhang Zhuang, a deputy at the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) and mayor of this major industrial city in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.

Located in southwest China, Liuzhou has operated a total of 21 China-Europe freight trains as of Jan 15, 2023, transporting 2,057 containers of heavy machinery. Loaders, rollers and other examples of heavy machinery produced in Guangxi have now been sold to more than 170 countries and regions.

China-Europe freight trains running from Liuzhou to Moscow and from Nanning to Kazakhstan have realized regular operations, making for seamless connections between these trains and those running on the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.

The freight trains are expected to promote the smooth operation of industrial and supply chains in middle and west China, while also helping Guangxi formulate the new dual circulation development pattern in which domestic and overseas markets reinforce each other with the domestic market as the mainstay.

Zhang suggested that the intervals between the China-Europe freight trains departing from Guangxi should be shortened and that trains departing from Liuzhou should run for four times a month.

He added that a center for these freight trains should be set up in Liuzhou, and that efforts should be made to turn the city into a national production service-oriented logistics hub with a global influence.
