Sanyuesan Festival boosts Hechi's tourism consumption

During the Sanyuesan Festival holiday period in March 2024, the cultural and tourism activities in Hechi, Guangxi, were rich and colorful, leading to a bustling cultural and tourism market. The total number of tourists received, and the total tourism revenue achieved double-digit growth.

From April 11 to 14, Hechi received a total of 1.3 million visitors, an increase of 32.72 percent compared to the previous year. Tourist spending reached 837 million yuan ($116 million), up 43.3 percent increase year-on-year.

During the recently held Sanyuesan Festival, the city of Hechi planned and executed more than 10 major events that included various art performances and ethnic unity-themed colorful country markets at the city level.

Furthermore, over 80 events such as folk song gatherings, bronze drum gatherings, intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, and ethnic sports shows, were conducted across various counties and districts. These events provided an opportunity for the general public and tourists to closely observe, appreciate, and experience the intangible cultural heritage, and to experience the magnetism of traditional ethnic culture and bronze drum culture.

The city effectively presented its unique local customs, picturesque landscapes, and cultural heritage through a variety of mediums, including art performances, integrated agricultural, cultural, and tourism development projects, exhibitions and sales of ethnic handicrafts, and the displays of specialty cuisine that features longevity and medicinal food.
