Loaded with sugar, a sea-rail express train of New Western Land-Sea Corridor recently left Liujing Railway Station of China Railway Nanning Group for Qinzhougangdong Railway Station. The sugar will be transited by sea to ports in Dafeng, Ningbo, Tianjin, etc. This is a new pattern of “rail + sea route”, which is developed for sugar made in Guangxi.

It is learned that there are four sugar factories near Liujing Town, with an annual output of about 250,000 tons of sugar. Previously, these sugar factories shipped sugar by highway to Qinzhou or by rivers to Guangzhou from Liujing Port and Guigang Xijiang Port. Then the sugar was shipped by sea to their destinations. To ensure a stable transportation of sugar and meet customers’ demands of shipment, China Railway Nanning Group and multi-modal combined transportation enterprises and port enterprises of Beibu Gulf take the initiative to establish a solution to combine rail and sea transport. This solution can reduce three to five days in transfer, and shipment cost will be also reduced by about 10 percent compared to the data of previous year.
