"Experiencing automatic driving of trains and getting a close-up feel of Chinese high-speed railway technology was so fantastic," said Souksavanh Sesengchan, a representative of the Laotian Ministry of Transportation in Liuzhou, South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region on Wednesday.

On the same day, 29 officials from Laos, Malaysia and other countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative gathered at the Liuzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College to participate in the Seminar on Economic Corridor Building & Connectivity Cooperation under the Global Development Initiative.

The high-tech equipment in the college's training room captured the attention of visitors from various countries.

Using AR glasses, visitors immersed themselves in hands-on high-speed rail maintenance and simulated train driving.

Souksavanh Sesengchan has been looking forward to experiencing the trains firsthand since the China-Laos Railway commenced operations.

"With the opening of the China-Laos Railway, traveling for Lao people has become more convenient," he said.

The railway has transformed traveling in Laos and highlighted the urgent growing need for more railway-related professionals.

During the visit, Souksavanh Sesengchan and other Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Laos officials hoped to improve their understanding of Chinese high-speed rail technology and talent cultivation.

"Many Lao students study high-speed rail knowledge in cities like Liuzhou and Changsha in China. We also hope for collaboration to nurture such talents with China," he said.

In recent years, the Liuzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College has organized connectivity projects between China and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.

The college has admitted five batches of Thai students and three batches of Laotian students, contributing to the development of international railway professionals for projects like the China-Laos Railway and the China-Thailand Railway.

Luo Xiaofang, deputy principal of the college, stated that the seminar has provided a broad platform for mutual learning and exchange, offering all participants an opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of Chinese railways and vocational education development in China.
